Introduction

Hi, I’m Ryan Mitchell — a photographer based in Lowestoft, Suffolk. I specialise in portraits, including families, couples, and modelling. I love using the natural environment, and I’m drawn to moments that feel honest and full of personality.

After years of refining the craft, learning, and adapting, I launched my own photography business.

I’m using this journal to share more of the stories behind the photos: behind-the-scenes notes, tips before a session, and the odd lesson learned along the way.

I’m someone who rarely gives himself credit. I’ve often asked, “Why me? Why would anyone choose me to take their photos?” Classic imposter syndrome. More recently I’ve found the courage to say sod it, and give it a go.

I’ve never had official qualifications. I’ve learned on the go — making mistakes and growing from them. Promoting myself doesn’t come naturally, but I know I can give you the memories you want to keep.

I currently work full-time in a completely different field, and I’m building this business around that. I also have a loving family, with two young children and a wonderful partner, who will always come first. Being organised isn’t exactly my strong suit.

I’m looking forward to the journey: learning every day, taking on new challenges, and working alongside some amazing people.
